Dragon’s Muses

Welcome to the Muses page. This page is about my (at last count two) personal muses, Darth Loki and Rhiannon.
Let’s start with Loki. Well, in 2005 when I was in high school still, Star Wars Episode III came out and I developed a strong interest in the Star Wars universe in general. I was in my senior year, and finding things very difficult and frustrating, particularly those who obstructed my desire to learn what I needed to. To vent my frustration I started writing little imaginary scenes for my penpal, where my Dark Side (read: Sithly alter-ego) came out and I, “Darth Loki” took revenge on my classmates.
When I was inspired to write a fictional blog about a teenage girl who lives with a Sith Lord, I naturally made the Sith a version of Loki. This version evolved into a character of its own, and was one of the main characters in my blog.
Somehow Darth Loki as a whole - both the one in my letters and in my blog - has become entrenched in my imagination and personality. Therefore I hereby bestow upon her the official position as my first personal muse.
Rhiannon, well, she developed in 2006. Ages ago, now, I read a piece of Harry Potter fanfiction that featured the gods and goddesses of Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Intrigued, I began reading up on this hitherto unknown subject. At about the same timeĀ I discovered Fleetwood Mac, and in particular the haunting song “Rhiannon.” The beauty of this song and my current research material came together in my mind to form a strong idea of what kind of person this Tuatha de Danaan was; so much so that she became her own character in different things I wrote. Before I knew it, where Loki expressed my frustrations and sardonic thoughts, Rhiannon came to be the character that expressed gentler and more mystical feelings. She’s not as much a part of me as Loki is, but nonetheless I feel that she, too, deserves the title of personal muse.
